Maureen Hyde
Born in Pasadena, California in 1946, Maureen Hyde is a fine art painter and a former principal instructor at the Florence Academy of Art. She is now based in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, concentrating on painting.
She attended the University of California at Los Angeles where she graduated cum laude, and then earned a Master of Fine Arts. The need to move on led her to live in Southern France. Being exposed to major museums in Europe also revealed an urge to meet the challenge of becoming a painter in the traditional humanist manner.
After living in Florence for six years, she accepted a position as an instructor at The Florence Academy of Art, and had her own studio on campus. Maureen says, “My creative spirit feels at home in Italy. The warmth of the human touch in the handmade aspects of living gives visual credence to a realization that pleasure comes from simple things. The light and natural beauty of the Italian landscape is providing me a lifetime of inspiration.”
Maureen is currently represented in the United States by Shuptrine’s Gallery.
